CMP shines at FOREDE 2025 with awards for safety, investment and development

Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) is present at FOREDE 2025, the third largest mining fair in Chile, which in its ninth edition focuses on new investments and development opportunities, shared value, sustainability, and the preservation of Atacama’s cultural and tourism heritage.

The opening ceremony was attended by Acting Minister of Mining Suina Chahuán, along with local authorities, the Ambassador of Canada, business associations, and leading mining and supplier companies from the region. The event addressed the challenges and outlook for the mining industry in the coming years.

During the inauguration, CMP received two major awards in the categories of Occupational Safety and Health and Investment and Development, reflecting the company’s commitment to responsible and sustainable management, focused on contributing to regional growth and strengthening the value chain to continue driving progress in Atacama.

In this regard, CMP’s General Manager, Francisco Carvajal, stated:

“We want to highlight that our company has been actively involved with CORPROA since its beginnings. We are very happy to participate once again in FOREDE, where we are presenting a beautiful stand to encourage reflection on the region’s development. The awards we received recognize the work we’ve been doing for many years—they motivate and commit us to continue deepening our efforts in safety, investment, and development, contributing to the growth of the region, the value chain, and the entire mining ecosystem.”

According to CORPROA, these recognitions come directly from the organization’s members, in acknowledgment of CMP’s contribution to the Atacama region, its risk management business model, and its long-term strategic outlook.

CORPROA’s president, Juan José Ronsecco, added:

“FOREDE 2025 and the Atacama region seek to foster an open, transparent dialogue and new ideas around an emerging industry that wants to continue growing and consolidating. This event is an ideal platform for bringing the voice of the regions to the national level. FOREDE has been a catalyst for Atacama’s development, generating business opportunities and conversations that drive the region forward year after year.”

Currently, CMP reports a lost-time injury frequency rate 3.5 times lower than the industry average, which also earned the company the John T. Ryan Safety Award for the outstanding safety performance of its El Romeral Mine, located in the Coquimbo region.

CMP’s achievements stem from its Process Risk Management (GRP) model, which has helped reduce variability, anticipate risks and opportunities, and establish CMP as an industry benchmark in safety, applying the highest standards in risk management and contributing to the responsible development of the strategic minerals demanded by the future.

“CMP is an important part of this event, and once again we’re hosting various activities, including business meetings and a co-working space with local entrepreneurs, where visitors can learn more about how we practice a different kind of mining. We are extremely proud to receive the Occupational Safety and Health Award—this is the result of progress made through our Process Risk Management model—and also the Investment and Development Award, which motivates us to continue growing and contributing to Atacama’s regional economy,” emphasized Paulina Andreoli, CMP’s Risk Management and Sustainability Manager.

The awards received during FOREDE’s opening day reaffirm CMP’s purpose of advancing a different, sustainable mining approach, committed to the development of the territory through medium- and long-term projects and investments that drive growth, generate value from minerals, and contribute to the progress of people, communities, and the country.

As in previous years, CMP will continue to participate in business meetings, seminars, and will host a co-working space at its stand, where visitors can learn more about iron mining and CMP’s operations.
