In the search for a sustainable solution for the disposal of tailings from the Pellet Plant in Huasco, Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) launched an ecological restoration project that will cover the material resulting from the production of iron from the site with species of flora native to the area.

Con una inversión global de más de US$382 millones, CMP ha venido implementando una serie de medidas que buscan promover operaciones sostenibles en la comuna de Huasco, en línea con su propósito de impulsar una minería diferente que crece junto a los territorios y sus habitantes. 

With the delivery of construction materials to repair damage to homes in Inca de Oro, after the floods that affected the town last March, CMP was present in the mining commune to support the families, the majority of whom belong to the Association of Pirquineros of the commune. This contribution was managed through the Mining Commitment Network, who appealed to mining companies in the III Region.

Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), the country’s main iron ore producer, has been developing a comprehensive environmental improvement plan over the last few months, applicable to its three operating valleys, Copiapó, Huasco and Elqui. This effort, which takes on special relevance on Earth Day, is part of its commitment to create a different and sustainable mining industry, in line with the growth of the territory and its people.

As part of an important investment plan and environmental and social improvement projects, Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) inaugurated the operation of two 100% electric buses for the daily transportation of workers from their homes to the Pellet Plant and Los Colorados Mine in Huasco.
