IRONCLAD COMMITMENT

We delivered construction materials to the Association of Pirquineros de Inca de Oro

10 Nov, 2022

With the delivery of construction materials to repair damage to homes in Inca de Oro, after the floods that affected the town last March, CMP was present in the mining commune to support the families, the majority of whom belong to the Association of Pirquineros of the commune. This contribution was managed through the Mining Commitment Network, who appealed to mining companies in the III Region.

It should be noted that last March, heavy rains were recorded in the commune of Diego de Almagro, which left 80 families affected, in addition to road cuts and power outages to more than 9 thousand customers in the area, one of the most affected localities being that of Inca de Oro.

Adolph Möller, assistant manager of CMP's Copiapó Valley operations, said that "as a company we are happy to be able to contribute to our territories, especially to Inca de Oro, which although it is not an area where we operate, we do recognize it as a mining center and town with a long history, where people who contribute to the industry work and live. We hope that this support will be of great help to the members of the association and the affected families".

Joel Carrizo, president of the Tierra Amarilla Mining Workers' Association and Union, and director of the National Mining Society, said that "this alluvium wiped out a large part of the town's population. This is a significant contribution, because it comes to help the families of this typical mining town. I am very happy with CMP's contribution. It is very necessary for miners to help each other and to have the spirit of solidarity that has always existed".

It should be noted that the aid and the beneficiaries will be defined by the association of the local lime workers themselves, who after a survey of their members and families in the area will deliver the materials to those who need them most.
