Family run sponsored by CMP brings together close to a thousand competitors

Activity framed in the Sports Day was organized by the Universidad Católica del Norte and the Municipality of Coquimbo. Inclusive initiative brought together various running teams and other disciplines of the commune.

Nearly one thousand competitors participated in the Inclusive Family Run organized the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN) and the Municipality of Coquimbo, which was promoted by Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), during Sunday’s run through the streets of the port city, bringing together various running teams, participants with pets and other sports disciplines of the commune.

Early in the morning, participants gathered in front of the Coquimbo City Hall, where they were able to pick up kits, water, snacks and hats, as well as an entertaining warm-up that brought together young and old to celebrate Sports Day.

Soffia Gotelli, CMP’s Communications and Relations Superintendent, emphasized that “at CMP we have always valued the approach to the communities and those that mainly welcome us and on this occasion we are in Coquimbo, a community that houses part of our operations and we wanted to be with our strategic partner, UCN and the municipality of Coquimbo, who is our host on this occasion in this inclusive race, in the month of inclusion and on Sports Day”.

The winners category were: in men, 8K Víctor Rojas, 5K Johan Morales and 3K Franko Villalobos. On the other hand, in the women’s category, the winner in 8K was Katherine Varas, in 5K Janett Veas and for the 3K Patricia Olivera. In the inclusive category, the winner in the 8K was Gabriela Díaz, in the 5K José Manuel Cortés and in the 3K Emily Callejas. Finally, in the 3K with pets category, the winner was Víctor Gallardo accompanied by his dog.
Elvira Badilla, Vice Rector of UCN, commented on her collaboration in the organization of the event and the bond with CMP: “We are grateful to continue with this strategic alliance for the community that we have in common with CMP. We are neighbors and we have worked in several instances and this is one more of them, which allows us to continue advancing in this linkage in favor of the community”.
Enzo Arancibia, participant and member of the Master Runners Team: “We came to support this activity to bring back running to the streets, to thank Coquimbo and UCN and also CMP. We are happy to be back in the streets doing sports again, even more so in the city of Coquimbo, which always supports sports”.
Compañía Minera del Pacífico is a strategic partner of UCN, and they have previously maintained collaborations, mainly in the Guayacán sector, where both entities maintain part of their facilities.
