20 Nov, 2022

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new fire station in the town of Caldera, which will house the 2nd company of the port town, was the setting chosen for Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) to deliver rescue and emergency equipment to the town's firefighters.

This delivery is part of a strategic alliance between CMP, the municipality and the fire department. It seeks to strengthen the joint work of the main entities in the communities where the company operates, in addition to adding value and generating shared growth with the surrounding communities.

Patricio Mateluna, Superintendent of the Caldera Fire Department, said that "this new firehouse is a dream of many years. We are grateful to many people for taking this project forward, to the mayor, governor, regional councilors, councilmen and to the private company that is contributing with equipment that will be of great help from now on".

Miguel Vargas, governor of the Atacama region, added that "the regional government joins this collective effort to make this second fire station in Caldera a reality. We hope that the works can be completed soon for the benefit of the people. We are happy for the firefighters, for Caldera and for Atacama".

The mayor of Caldera, Brunilda Gonzalez, said that "with this new fire station, the firefighters will be able to continue working for the commune of Caldera, especially in terms of road accidents, being closer to Route 5. We thank the regional government, the municipal council and of course we cannot leave out the CMP, who are supporting us with a grain of sand to improve the equipment of the commune's firefighters".

Rodrigo Mora, CMP's assistant manager of operations for the Copiapó Valley, said that "a new fire company for a community is a symbol of development. We are happy with this alliance and hope that this equipment will be of great help and benefit the entire community and the region. For us it is important to grow with the territory, from each process and each member of our company. In this way we give value to what we do every day".

CMP's contribution consists of: a floating motor pump for fire control, trauma bags for vehicle accidents, aquatic compression boosters, rescue helmets and motorola HF 8500 base radios for the alarm center.
