CMP, the company with the best payment performance for SMEs

In the midst of an economic scenario that has mainly affected the country's SMEs, this week was released the Ranking of Payers for the fourth quarter of 2021, developed by the Bolsa de Productos (BPC) and the Chilean Association of Entrepreneurs (Asech).

Among the main findings, Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), with presence in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions, was again highlighted for its payment behavior to small and medium-sized suppliers, with a score of 88.0 points at the top of the Mining sector, which in turn is the economic group that reflects the best behavior, with a score of 81.9.

Among the variables that were considered for the evaluation were the supplier payment term; the ease of invoice confirmation by the payer; the behavior according to commercial conditions and the discounts exercised on the invoices to be paid. Each of these points is key to the economic rhythm of small and medium-sized companies.

For Carlos Sepúlveda, the company's Administration and Finance Manager, this valuation "fills us with pride once again, because at CMP we are sure that sustainable development involves, in an important part, a commitment to our suppliers as individuals, making sure that we are always going beyond what is possible to achieve joint growth, which ultimately benefits the whole territory".

In the same vein, the executive highlighted that during 2021 they increased their purchases from local suppliers by 73% compared to the previous period, reaching 40% of their total purchases and reaching an amount of US$ 441 million, in line with their policy of developing local suppliers that they have been implementing for several years.

It is important to remember that CMP has been recognized on several occasions through the study carried out by the BPC and Asech, leading the Ranking of Payment to SMEs - of the Mining group - during all the quarters of the years 2020 and 2019; previously, it did the same in the fourth period of 2018 and the third of 2017. Likewise, in the second quarter of 2021 it was awarded as the best company at the country level, leading a list of more than 360 companies.
