CMP strengthens social dialogue through working groups with Unions

After a month of constructive dialogue between Compañía Minera del Pacífico and its unions, a new session of the working groups is being held, an event in which local authorities and the National Director of Labor, Pablo Zenteno, participated.

STEM: robotics workshop held for 7th and 8th grade girls

With the aim of promoting education as a key tool for the development of the territories, Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), in collaboration with the company Finning, launched the Educational Robotics Workshop aimed at 7th and 8th grade girls from different schools in the provinces of Huasco and Elqui, in the regions of Atacama and Coquimbo, respectively.

Jaime Charles Scholarship: we continue to promote the education of young people in the region

Compañía Minera del Pacífico announced the award of 69 new scholarships to promote education for students in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions, specifically in the Copiapó, Huasco and Elqui valleys. This benefit bears the name of Jaime Charles, in honor of the former general manager of Grupo CAP, of which CMP is a subsidiary, who dedicated a large part of his life to promoting educational development in the communities neighboring the company’s operations.

We support the UCN Coquimbo’s Social Pre-University program.

Since 2017, the Catholic University of the North, Coquimbo branch, has been carrying out its Social Pre-university, through its Pastoral and Christian Culture department, a project born from the students of the house of studies so that young people in fourth grade and graduates can opt for a free pre-university in order to prepare for the Access to Higher Education Test (PAES).

We participated in the campaign “Atacama Helps the South”.

Following the fires that occurred in the southern part of the country this summer, the Regional Government, the Presidential Delegation and the various departments and other agencies of the Atacama region joined in a campaign to support the disaster area. Together with them, CMP and other mining companies such as Candelaria, Caserones, Atacama Kozan and Pucobre, plus agricultural companies and public and private institutions, more than 100 tons of aid were collected and distributed in seven trucks sent to the commune of Quillón, in the Ñúble region.

Artisanal fishing women meet and organize to consolidate their leadership in Atacama

Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), in direct line with its purpose, seeks to promote gender equity, highlight the role of women and contribute to their sustainable development in the territory. In this sense, the company has joined the initiative Mesa de la Mujer de la Pesca Artesanal y Actividades Conexas de Atacama, which seeks to consolidate its leadership in the region and provide opportunities to promote their work. All this in conjunction with the regional government and the respective communal governments.

With 950 passengers, the magic of the Christmas Train returns to the Valley

The magic of Christmas, the emotion of experiencing a unique trip and the memories of yesteryear were the protagonists in the return of the Christmas Train, a day organized Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) and Ferronor in which more than 950 people participated: neighbors of the communities, workers of the aforementioned companies and their families.

Guayacán neighbors learn masonry and plumbing trades

During the last few months, a total of 16 residents of the town of Guayacán deepened their knowledge of ceramic tile and floating floor installation techniques, masonry, as well as the application of paint on different surfaces, in compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards, all thanks to an initiative between Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) and INACAP.

 

From Vallenar to the world: EDUFEST captivates Huasco students

On October 4 and 5, Vallenar was the epicenter of the second version of the International Educational Theater Festival: EDUFEST, which featured in-person performances at the Algarrobo Sports Club of CMP, where schools of the Local Public Education Service (SLEP) – Huasco were part of six plays from Chile and Argentina that, at the same time, were transmitted via streaming to 61 Spanish-speaking countries.

Successful literacy support program expands in the territory

In 2020, Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) and the Sara Raier de Rassmuss Foundation joined forces to bring the Alfadeca program, which promotes literacy skills in elementary school children, to the territory.

FondoproOlivo delivers salt and ponds to olive growers in the province of Huasco

In the town of El Pino, a new benefit delivery ceremony was held for olive growers enrolled in the ProOlivo Fund. Specifically, 170 thousand kilos of salt and 33 storage ponds were granted, which are essential to maintain and ferment the harvested olives in optimal conditions, achieving a high quality product.

A group of outstanding students from the province of Huasco were the guests of honor at the Mining Technology Fair organized by CMP and ANDRITZ Chile at the Algarrobo Sports Club in Vallenar. Entrepreneurship and sports funds awarded in the province of Huasco

For the second consecutive year, Compañía Minera del Pacífico called local athletes and entrepreneurs to apply for its ‘Vive el Deporte en Huasco’, ‘Emprende CMP’ and ‘Reactiva tu Negocio’ funds, each with an amount of up to one million pesos per initiative.
